Born on Jan. 19th of 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poverty-stricken family which would later consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of living through her vibrant and broad imagination. Before she could write or read, she began to compose her own music. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was just 8 years old and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of eleven.
