Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a public speech writer. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentary and analyses of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and an American feminist media critique. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which explores the representations of females in narratives from popular culture. The challenge of destroying stereotypes regarding women is her primary goals. However, Sarkeesian also discusses issues of specific harassment of women on the internet and other minorities who are excluded. Sarkeesian is also a graduate of York University master's in social theological, philosophical and political thought. In addition to being a well-known public speaker, she has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO conference and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. At a young age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by issues of gender identity and feminist thinking. While still at school in 2009, she launched her Feminist Frequency Website. The ebullient young lady was harassed online for launching a website featuring a series about gender and videogames. The attack did not deter her instead it was a boost to her determination as a feminist critic of media. Her many notable contributions in the field of feminist are recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic who has won numerous awards and created Feminist Frequency as an educational non-profit that examines the ways women are depicted within the popular culture stories.
