
Julie London (nee Peck, September 26, 1926 - October 18 1999) is an American actor and singer. Her career spans over 40 years. London was a torch performer well-known for her soft, smooth voice. She recorded over 30 albums of standards and jazz between 1955 and 1969. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame was her recording of "Cry Me a River" the song she first introduced on her debut album. London was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for her role as Dixie McCall, a nurse on Emergency! London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. She began her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's acting career of 35 years began with film in 1944. It included roles in the lead female role in various westerns. In the middle of the 1950s, she signed a recording agreement with Liberty Records. This was the beginning of her professional career. The album she recorded her final studio album released in 1969. Her success continued as the female star role of Dixie McCall on the television show Emergency! (1972-1979), she starred alongside her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb, her ex-husband also produced the show.
